Hello! I'm Gill -

sports massage therapist in Memus, Angus

About me

Hi, I’m Gill — a qualified (SCQF Level 8) sports massage therapist based in Memus, Angus.

I work with women who want to move better, feel better, and stay active without being held back by pain

I work with clients from Forfar, Kirriemuir, and across Angus and Dundee, offering sports and menopausal massage in a relaxed home setting.

My approach

I’m genuinely interested in what actually helps people feel and move better. I stay up to date with current research and use an evidence-informed approach — which simply means I focus on what’s helpful, comfortable, and effective.

That means:

  • I don’t believe in “no pain, no gain” — pain isn’t a measure of therapeutic benefit

  • I won’t talk about “breaking up knots” — tight, tender areas respond best to patient, comfortable pressure

  • I won’t promise to “flush toxins” (although staying hydrated is always a good idea!)

What I will do is listen, work at a pressure that feels right for you, and help you move with less pain and more confidence — so you can keep doing the things you enjoy.

I can help with:

  • everyday aches, pains, and niggles

  • menopause-related symptoms including joint pain, anxiety, and poor sleep

  • staying comfortable while building towards a goal race

  • recovery after that goal race

  • “why does it hurt there when I move like this?” mysteries

  • chronic conditions such as back pain and osteoarthritis

  • and the classic “I’m sure I’m too young for this” complaints

When I’m not working, I’m usually being enthusiastically dragged around the Angus countryside by Poppy, my cocker spaniel — preferably up a hill.

Running, menopause and real life

We moved to Angus in 2018, which was when my relationship with running shifted. I stopped chasing times on the road and discovered the joy of running in the Glens. I’m now an ultra runner and I understand first-hand how important it is to deal with aches and niggles before they become injuries.

I’ve also been through a challenging menopause myself. I understand how overwhelming it can be when new symptoms seem to appear daily — aching joints, fatigue, poor sleep, anxiety, hot flushes — often on top of an already busy life.

My experience, combined with professional training and ongoing research, means I’m well placed to offer menopause massage that supports relaxation, recovery, and pain management during a time when your body can feel unfamiliar and unpredictable.

I’m currently combining these interests through research into how falling oestrogen levels impacts masters runners — watch this space.

"I had a wonderful experience today with Gill. I was made to feel welcome and listened to caringly during my indepth consultation. The massage was bespoke and tailored specifically to help remedy the pain I was experiencing with my back. It's around 5 hours since my massage and I'm genuinely feeling much better. Looking forward to my next appointment in a couple of weeks"

Hours

I'm working from home and am super flexible and always try to book clients in at short notice if they are in pain!

I work Tuesday - Sundays most weeks. Call or text to book your treatment.

HOW TO FIND ME

Coming in to Memus from Forfar or Kirriemuir you will go past the Drovers on your left. The old church is just after, on the right with the manse next door situated just back from the road. Swing wide at the manse and double back down my driveway - the house is easy to miss as it's behind a hedge.

Drive in.. plenty or parking space beside the garage and room to turn around afterwards.
